In Reinventing Workers’ Comp: The Power of Criteria, Jerry Fogel called for rewiring of our workers’ compensation system from something that adheres to the desires of people to something that creates solutions based on their actual needs. Creating a more successful workers’ comp system should result in a decrease in overall workers’ comp costs, medical costs, and litigation, improve clinical and functional outcomes, and increase patient satisfaction. Fogel focused on the overtreatment and incorrect surgeries currently being practiced, asking for findings that aren’t merely objective but also relevant.
