After spending over 20 years auditing claims, I have developed several basic techniques that are necessary to optimize the productivity of a work environment. Claims examiners face myriad daily tasks that need individual attention; if not organized effectively, these tasks can detract from the quantity and quality of work produced each day. With such a vast number of intricacies and amount of information surrounding the field, a thorough understanding of the complex maze of workers’ compensation is absolutely key to processing claims in a cost-effective and accurate manner.

I have conducted over 100 audits of various industries.  I always remember what it was like working a caseload: as a claims examiner, you are balancing any number of customers at once, keeping the details of each case individually structured and simultaneously viewing all of them as a top priority. Without a proper management strategy that caters to your personal strengths and work style, it becomes too easy for the quality of the work and efficiency of processing to diminish. And with such a vast number of intricacies and amount of information surrounding the field, a thorough understanding of the complex maze of workers’ compensation is absolutely key to processing claims in a cost-effective and accurate manner. I respect the hard work done by claims examiners and wish to assist them in controlling this chaos by sharing innovative ideas and basic techniques essential for optimizing the productivity of a work environment.
