Phil Walker, organizer of the Making Workers’ Comp Work conference, just opened sessions by addressing the need for workers’ compensation reform.  In his speech, Phil discussed his initial confusion interacting with the workers’ comp industry, and inconsistencies in the cases he defended for 25 years as an attorney. Using his personal journey through alcoholism and recovery, Phil shared his transition into his current mindset of making a difference in how California’s workers’ comp cases are approached. He highlighted the necessity of utilizing a model of integrity in one’s work to create a system that is balanced, honest, and dynamic to the reform of our broken system.
